About our shoes
Babies and children naturally prefer to walk barefoot. Barefoot is best, but isn’t always practical or possible. Our shoes are designed to give your child the closest possible experience to walking barefoot, while still offering protection when it’s needed.
Our design
Flexible soles give growing feet the right environment to develop and strengthen while learning to walk. In simple terms, no added support is what allows little feet to move and develop naturally. They generate a lot of heat so breathability is important. Our shoes are made from unlined leather, which helps absorb moisture and keep feet cool.
All Pitta Patta shoes are made with soft, flexible, slip-resistant suede soles. They’re ideal for crawling, early walking, indoor use, and light outdoor use.
Shoe fit
The first few pairs of shoes a baby wears will typically fit for around six months as their feet grow.
Sizing can vary between brands, so we recommend using our size chart as a guide. Shoes should go on easily, with 5-7mm of space between the longest toe and the front of the shoe when your child is standing.
For detailed measuring instructions, please refer to our size guide (includes printable size chart).
Shoe shape
If your shoes look slightly uneven or appear shaped for a left or right foot, this is normal. Natural variations in the leather can cause slight differences in the appearance. All shoes are made to the same shape and will adjust naturally with wear.
If needed, gently rolling the seams between your fingers can help smooth out the edges. Over time, the shoes will mould to your child’s feet, improving both fit and comfort.
